Will Smith Blasts Trump, Hints at Political Career

"Suicide Squad" and "Fresh-Prince" star Will Smith took a rare step outside his carefully crafted image to express his opposition to Republican nominee Donald Trump in a press conference for Suicide Squad in Dubai. Smith, addressing the crowd, talked about the perceived anti-Muslim bias in the US:
"The Middle East can't allow Fox News to be the arbiter of the imagery, you know...So cinema is a huge way to be able to deliver the truth of the soul of a place to a global audience" -Will Smith
Smith also took an attack on Trump's supporters, saying:
"As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk, I think it's good...We get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country" -Will Smith
Smith has only recently started to wander into the opinion realm. For years, he has remained relatively neutral in his social viewpoints in fears of hurting his brand as one of the few remaining stars in Hollywood. However, as he moves into a new part of his life, he has started to indicate a level of higher social consciousness. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter last fall when asked about a potential political career:
"I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me. They might need me out there." -Will Smith
