Philippines President Condemns Obama, Blames US For High Crime Rates

After US President Barack Obama's office said that he would confront Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte about various issues, including government executions without trials and drug issues, the Philippines leader fired harsh comments at Obama, saying:
"Who does he think he is? I am no American puppet. I am the president of a sovereign country and I am not answerable to anyone except the Filipino people...Son of a b****, I will swear at you." -Rodrigo Duterte
Duterte then went on to blame the current crime problem in the Philippines on America, saying:
"As a matter of fact, we inherited this problem from the United States...Why? Because they invaded this country and made us their subjugated people. Everybody has a terrible record of extra-judicial killing. Why make an issue about fighting crime?" -Rodrigo Duterte
Duterte has taken a hard stance against drugs, with nearly 1,900 people, including 900 in police operations, being killed during this crackdown. However, many suspected drug dealers have not been given a fair trial, and the Philippines has received human rights warnings from both the UN Office of Drugs and Crimes and the International Narcotics Control Board. In response to the comments, Obama responded, suggesting that the meeting might be cancelled due to these comments:
"I always want to make sure if I'm having a meeting that it's productive and we're getting something done...if and when we have a meeting, this is something that is going to be brought up" -Barack Obama
