WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will do a live interview from the Ecuador Embassy in London during the Green Party convention, the Party announced today. Assange will be interviewed by 2004 Green Party nominee David Cobb at 12:45 P.M. Eastern time.
Assange is best known for the founding of WikiLeaks, which aims to expose problems in government by releasing classified documents. Last week, WikiLeaks released 20,000 emails from the Democratic National Committee, exposing bias against presidential nominee Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary and leading to the resignation of several high level DNC officials, including chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Assange has also been highly critical of Hillary Clinton, saying that: "
"She’s a war hawk who gets an unseemly emotional rush out of killing people. She shouldn’t be let near a gun shop, much less an army. She certainly shouldn’t become president." -Julian Assange
"The Green Party's primary base is disaffected Democratic voters who will not vote for Hillary Clinton. The party's candidate Jill Stein is currently polling at 5%, well short of the 15% necessary for the national debate. Assange is currently at the Ecuadorian embassy in threat of prosecution for a sexual assault case in Sweden.
