Making a rare late night TV appearance, former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart hosted a segment on the "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" following the conclusion of the Republican National Convention. Stewart popped up from under a desk and after being given blazer by Colbert, launched into a tirade resembling a segment from the "Daily Show".
Stewart was particularly critical of Fox News, anchor Sean Hannity, and Trump supporters, railing them for hypocrisy for leveling criticisms against Obama while praising Trump for the same qualities. In his most scathing criticism, launched against "conservatives who want to take the country back" he said:
“You feel that you’re this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that: This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was. There is no ‘real America.’ You don’t own it. You don’t own patriotism, you don’t own Christianity, you sure as hell don’t own respect for the bravery and sacrifice of military, police and firefighters. Trust me. I saw a lot of people on the convention floor in Cleveland with their ‘Blue Lives Matter’ rhetoric who either remained silent or actively fought against the 9/11 First Responders Bill reauthorization.
