Donald Trump is coming to Mexico to meet with the President of Mexico Enrique Nieto to discuss his foreign policy. Trump said in a statement
"I have accepted the invitation of President Enrique Peña Nieto, of Mexico, and look very much forward to meeting him tomorrow," -Donald Trump
Trump's campaign manager KellyAnne Conway added that Trump's visit was planned in advance and would be productive for discussing key issues, saying:
"Well, maybe it's been revealed publicly last minute, but the fact is that Mr. Trump was very excited to accept the invitation from the president in Mexico. It’s a decisive presidential move. He wants to establish a conversation with a neighboring country, a leader. And also to discuss the common problems and challenges that our country is facing" -Kelly Anne Conway
Trump will also bring Former New York mayor and trusted advisor Rudy Giuliani with him. Mexico's President Nieto seemed receptive, saying:
"I have never met him. I can't agree with some of the things he has said, but I will be absolutely respectful and will seek to work with whoever becomes the next president of the United States" -Enrique Nieto
The visit is particularly significant, considering Trump's immigration policies. He has stated that he wants to build a wall to keep out undocumented immigrants and keep a stricter watch on immigration. In recent weeks, he has pivoted towards a more lenient stance on immigration. Furthermore, Nieto has said that he would not be willing to build a wall.
