Donald Trump fires campaign manager Corey Lewandowski

The Trump campaign has parted ways with campaign manager Corey Lewandoski as the candidate moves into the general election. A spokesperson for Trump announced:

The Donald J. Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign. The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best in the future.

In recent weeks, Trump's poll numbers have been on the decline, which may explain Lewandowski's firing.

In an NBC News interview, Lewandowski said he is "honored to have been able to work with Trump and that he will continue to support the nominee in his role as head of the New Hampshire delegate chair"

Certainly a more graceful exit than Trump's firings on The Apprentice
